Homeowners and Contractors! Learn how the new EnergySmart program in Boulder County has helped this homeowner increase both comfort and efficiency.
By participating in this local program the Glustrom family was able to maximize rebates and incentives and lower their energy costs at the same time.
Join us for an evening tour of this recently upgraded home, a unique opportunity to speak directly with the homeowner and the project installers. Learn more about the easy cost-saving measures that these homeowners chose and ask questions during this in-depth analysis of each energy efficiency measure that they installed.
This event is collaboration between the homeowners, BGBG,
EnergySmart and the
Center for ReSource Conservation’s Tour of Sustainable Homes. These organizations work in partnership to bring education about conservation, energy efficiency and green building practice to the average homeowner.

Upgrades completed this summer under the EnergySmart program:
Weatherization:
· Duct Sealing
· Ventilation Sealing
· Sealing around can lights & bathroom fan
· Sealing & Insulation of Attic Hatch
· Dryer vent replacement
· Sealing of trim on skylights and windows
· Appliance combustion test (CAZ test) & Blower Door tests – before and after the upgrades

· Insulation under the ClimateSmart Loan Program
Join the Center for ReSource Conservation on a extraordinary tour of some of the most sustainable homes in our community!
On this year’s tour, the CRC has partnered with other non-profits and government groups in the County to showcase technologies, tactics, and services that help make our community more sustainable. Energy conservation, water conservation, waste diversion, local food production, transportation, community programs, and more will be featured from the perspective of the homes and community centers that will be on the tour in Boulder, Louisville, and Lafayette. The CRC is committed to showcasing and introducing the latest technologies in energy and water conservation while also highlighting some of the most effective, interesting and practical ways that people in our community are reducing waste and living sustainably. The tour includes bus and biking options. Purchase a ticket for the tour and visit community stops, talk with local organizations, and learn how to take easy steps in your life.

Energy Division Director, Center for Resource Conservation
Brad holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and has performed graduate work in building energy systems, energy policy, power electronics, power generation, and renewable energy systems. He helped develop the energy use and emissions model for the University of Colorado’s carbon neutrality plan. He also created a cost and emissions model to compare renovation plans for the university’s power plant. Brad has professional experience in business operations, program management, and mechanical design.
Doug Parker
Sustainability Examiner, Boulder County
Doug Parker was a contractor and Builder in Boulder County for over 30 years specializing in very energy efficient projects and solar homes prior to joining the Boulder County Building Division as the Sustainability Examiner.
Larry Kinney, PhD
Chief Technology Officer,
Synergistic Building Technologies
Larry Kinney is a founder and former President of Synergistic Building Technologies. Since September of 2010, he has served the company as Chief Technology Officer. He did undergraduate work in Physics and Philosophy at Davidson and Rhodes colleges and holds a PhD in Philosophy from Syracuse University, where his research included Bertrand Russell’s work in developing the foundations of mathematics and logic. Larry has conceived and directed dozens of energy-related energy research, development, and demonstration projects. Active in energy conservation research for over 30 years, he has broad experience in fenestration systems, lighting and daylighting technologies, air handling and conditioning systems, controls, and energy-efficient greenhouses. Larry has authored over 200 publications and reports to clients and is the co-holder of two patents in the daylighting area. He co-founded SBT to help bring sound innovative energy-saving technologies to market.
