Commercial Roofing  - What are the options?

If you are considering new roofing options for your commercial building, this presentation will give you insight into the available options.There are two options available on the ClimateSmart Eligibility Measures List for commercial roofs, Cool Roofs and Green Roofs. This presentation will explore both options, explain the benefits and challenges and the available financing mechanisms for each. The presentation will also include the mechanical issues for roofing decisions and a case study to help you understand the reality of roofing choices.


Presenters:

Andy Creath
Andy is an entrepreneur in the emerging environment and sustainability fields. He founded Green Roofs of Colorado, a green roof design, installation, maintenance, and consultation company with completed projects in Boulder, Denver, Vail, Fort Collins, and Steamboat, CO.  Andy is recognized as an Accredited Professional in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP) by the U.S. Green Building Council. He is a board member for the Green Infrastructure Foundation, which was founded in 2007 to respond to the need for greater awareness and resources to promote green infrastructure in local communities.  He worked for four years at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a program analyst within the Office of the Inspector General. At the EPA he earned awards for his work toward the creation of an on-line database of cross-agency Federal environmental programs and for improving EPA's tracking of National Petroleum Refinery Compliance Program progress and impacts. Andy has a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver and received a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Aspects of Conservation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

David Coddington
David is the owner of 3R Roofing LLC, a Boulder based green building roofing contractor with a focus on energy efficient and resource conscious roof systems. As an actively participating contractor in the ClimateSmart Loan Program, 3R Roofing has installed numerous Energy Star qualified roofing products for customers throughout Boulder County.
3R Roofing is also the Co-founder of Roofs to Roads Colorado, an association of roofers, haulers, paving contractors, municipalities, The Colorado Department of Transportation and others who have an interest in using asphalt tear off shingles for road paving.


Michael Brame
Michael graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia with a BSBA in Marketing. He is the owner of Custom Home Works and Vice President of Baldwin Siding and Construction Co. Michael has won the National or Regional contractor of the year award from NARI  (Nat'l Assoc Of Remodeling) and Qualified Remodeler 6 times. In 1993 he won the Regional Contractor of the year for Commercial renovation of a project involved with Dioxin clean up in Ellisville Mo., and in 1995 National Contractor of the year for Commercial Exterior of St. Charles Casino. He is a professional in hands on applications of all building trades including commercial and residential roofing.
