Boulder County's new EnergySmart services provide expert assistance to take the guesswork out of making your home or business more energy efficient.

The ClimateSmart Loan Program The ClimateSmart Loan Program offers loans to Boulder County property owners who want to make energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements to their property.

Neighborhood Energy Sweeps Volunteers and staff go door-to-door providing direct assistance with energy efficiency: they install CFL bulbs and low-flow shower heads for free and provide information and advice on being more energy efficient.
The LPEC Weatherization program (a division of the Housing and Human Services department) provides energy audits and energy-saving retrofits to income-qualifying households; not only does this make their homes more comfortable, but it also saves the resident money on utility bills.
City of Boulder
Solar Rebate and Grant Programs The Solar Rebate Program, implemented by ordinance, provides a partial sales and use tax rebate on qualified photovoltaic (PV) or solar thermal (hot water) systems installed within the city of Boulder.r.
City of Longmont
The City of Longmont offers programs that help residents and businesses protect our watershed, preserve open space, recycle resources, be more energy and water efficient, use more renewable energy, build better buildings, and have alternate forms of transportation available.
City of Louisville
The City of Louisville also offers water efficiency rebates for turf-type buffalo grass, soil moisture sensors, drip irrigation systems and water-efficient clothes washers and toilets. For more information, visit the City of Louisville Public Works web site.
Utility Companies
Xcel Energy
- Home Performance With Energy Star Rebate Program: To participate, the homeowner must first have a qualifying energy audit performed on their home through Xcel Energy. The audit must include a blower door test to establish natural air changes in the home and determine eligibly for the air sealing rebate. Customers must complete all improvements before they are eligible to receive any rebates.
- Xcel Energy's Solar*Rewards Program provides two separate incentives for customers who install grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems sized up to 120% of the average annual load of their homes and facilities. Customers will receive an upfront rebate payment, plus a separate payment for the renewable-energy credits (RECs) produced by their system.
- Heating and Cooling Rebates: Standard rebates are available for heat pumps, evaporative coolers, central A/C systems, furnaces, boilers, water heaters and insulation which meet the program requirements.
Longmont Power & Communications offers a matching grant program for Longmont residential customers to help offset the cost of installing and upgrading efficiency measures. You can receive up to $500 in matching funds for projects that reduce energy and/or water consumption. Longmont Residential Matching Grant.
Platte River Power Authority (for Fort Collins, Longmont, Loveland, and Estes Park) provides electricity to its four member communities through their municipal utilities, including Estes Park Light and Power, Fort Collins Utilities, Longmont Power and Communications, and Loveland Water and Power Department. Each of these four utilities offers financial incentives for high-efficiency cooling, lighting, and other equipment.
State of Colorado
GEO Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program: rebates to homeowners who purchase and install certain energy efficient appliances, heating equipment and weatherization materials. To be eligible for appliance rebates, the old appliance must be uninstalled and properly recycled. Rebates are only available for equipment purchased on or after April 19, 2010 while funds are available.
GEO Residential Renewable Energy Rebate Program: rebates to Colorado residents who purchase and install qualifying photovoltaic (PV), solar water heating, and wind energy systems. Xcel Energy and Black Hills customers do not qualify for PV rebates due to existing incentives. Customers of other utilities may be subject to smaller incentives through this program if their utility has existing incentives.
